Roderick Kingsley, aka the Hobgoblin, was a fashion designer based in New York who used questionable and ruthless business practices to build his wealth and empire. After becoming obsessed with the original Green Goblin, Kingsley decided to create his own criminal alias by altering the Green Goblin formula and costume, and improving the Goblin's equipment in order to become the Hobgoblin.
