The 6th century Chinese legend of Mulan is well-loved, telling the story of a plucky girl taking her aged father's place when the army calls him up for service. In Disney's 1998 animated feature film, Reflection reveals Mulan's dilemma in being what society expects of her, against what she feels is her true self.
